quickie hooding

Thanks to Linda, we have photographic evidence of our presence at my doctoral hooding. Notice there's no one around Royce Hall: we dashed out of the hooding ceremony early to catch a flight to Atlanta.

That's the Yeh-Rippens way: knock on wood, we always "catch the last train" (a-mah's words). That also went for finishing the dissertation. (There's thematic coherence for you in the narrative of my life from UCLA student to alumnus!)

So here's a blurry but treasured photo of our little band with smiles that are as much expressions of mania as of slap-happiness. And I was very happy to have Marty and Rilo and Owen there to share my first moment in full regalia. It was a tough road and they were the ones that always gave me joy.
